Time traveling birds

Gravity Jack In the Press

Scientists in the future (or possibly God) are sending back birds and old bread so that we don’t create the Higgs boson particle in large quantities. I am not making this up (ok I made up the old bread part it might have been fresh) – and if you follow physics you will know it is pretty strange how many things keep going wrong for the last 20 years in our search. Here at Gravity Jack we are comfortable just manipulating the weak force of gravity and we leave time travel to people much smarter than us. Which is pretty hard because we are pretty smart 😉
Really though this is probably my favorite article of 2009 – don’t just take my word for it, read up!
From Time Online:
In a series of audacious papers, Nielsen and Ninomiya have suggested that setbacks to the LHC occur because of “reverse chronological causation,” which is to say, sabotage from the future. The papers suggest that the Higgs boson may be “abhorrent to nature” and the LHC’s creation of the Higgs sometime in the future sends ripples backward through time to scupper its own creation. Each time scientists are on the verge of capturing the Higgs, the theory holds, the future intercedes. The theory as to why the universe rejects the creation of Higgs bosons is based on complex mathematics, but, Nielsen tells TIME, “you could explain it [simply] by saying that God, in inverted commas, or nature, hates the Higgs and tries to avoid them.”

Jack thinks there might be some truth to reverse chronological causation. Maybe we will write an iPhone app to predict when it will occur in reverse. Therefore we will always be right?
