Working alongside the client, a process is established to launch the project based on the intended audience. The code is then packaged up and provided to the client!

Being pioneers in the Augmented Reality space, Gravity Jack was a perfect fit for OREO’s search for an agency that could develop software capable of scanning and recognizing everyday objects. The overall objective of the OREO Cookie Quest application was to encourage users to scan objects as they go about their day as part of an OREO-themed scavenger hunt. To make this happen, Gravity Jack worked closely with the client to build a robust database of everyday objects such as coffee mugs, watches, and of course, OREO Cookies that app users can scan in hopes of unlocking prizes. The database also included a backend framework that allowed the client to add new scanable objects and edit or remove existing objects.

When a user scanned a recognizeable object within the database, a 3D OREO would appear on the screen and perform an animation where the cookie twisted open, revealing a prize. Prizes included exclusive videos, stickers, wallpapers, and even the ability to be entered into a drawing for a vacation getaway! As users scanned objects in the hopes of collecting all of the objects, the app’s database would keep track of which items were captured and which were still available. In the event a user collected all the items, additional prizes were made available to them.

Additionally, Gravity Jack created a crossplatform website for the Cookie Quest where users unlocked additional content that included games, coupons, and the ability to download the app. The OREO Cookie Quest was released in the app stores accross several countries throughout the world including Europe and Latin America. To make this happen, Gravity Jack had to ensure that each language was correctly deployed wherever the app was downloaded, while also adhering to different app store regulations that varied by country — making for a succesful glbal campaign for the OREO team.

Gravity Jack’s 3D team replicated a series of 3D versions of the OREO cookie that featured various icons and colors. Once an object was scanned and recognized, the 3D cookie would appear on the screen and animate by twisting open — ultimately revealing a prize.

3D Asset Optimization

Adding details and optimizing existing 3D models for mobile use.

The OREO Cookie Quest mobile app had several screens that tusers could potentially experience while exploring. To ensure every action lead to the corresponding screen, Gravity Jack built a robust series of wireframes prior to development.

Knowing that the ability to scan objects and get rewards were the top tier features of the app, Gravity Jack was thorough in the process in designing and developing mobile designs that made for an enjoyable user experience.
