CEREC PRIMESCAN AR EXPERIENCE
Wanting to create an unforgettable experience that showcases the latest advancements with the PrimeScan oral scanner at the Midwinter Meeting of the Chicago Dental Society, the marketing agency at Blakeslee approached Gravity Jack on behalf of their client, CEREC. To make this happen, Gravity Jack developed a mobile application capable of triggering three distinct experiences that place a realistic version of the PrimeScan machine in augmented reality space.
At their booth, the CEREC team had three custom AR markers placed on the ground. From there, they would encourage tradeshow visitors to scan each of the markers using the PrimeScan app to unlock a 3D model of the machine and learn about it’s features. Once scanned, the dynamic model comes to life using animations to highlight the technology, ease of use, and scalability of the PrimeScan. Users were also encouraged to take photos alongside the AR model and share them with other tradeshow visitors and post their experience to social media!

PROJECT DEVELOPMENT
The objective of of the project was to showcase and educate trade show visitors about the new PrimeScan machine. For this, Gravity Jack designed three custom markers which would trigger an augmented reality experience based on the core principles of the new machine. Each marker would place the PrimeScan machine in AR space, but would use different animations to highlight the different features associated with the core principles established by CEREC.
- Technology: Featured animation that showcased the speed and accuracy of the PrimeScan by having the 3D mesh of the mouth scan appear in 2D on the video monitor of the machine.
- Experience: Highlighted the ease of use, ergonomics and portability of the pivoting video screen from the PrimeScan through animations of these parts moving in AR space.
- Scalability: Incorporated a custom scene where 3D molecules with text highlighting the PrimeScan’s floated around the machine.
In addition to a main menu, the app also featured a tutorial and analytics which tracked user’s engagement with the experience.
CUSTOM ANIMATIONS
With the 3D model of the PrimeScan already created, Gravity Jack was charged with creating a series of custom AR animations that showcased the machines technology, ease of use, and scalability.

CUSTOM AUGMENTED REALITY MARKERS
Gravity Jack designed three distinct markers for the trade show which allowed users to engage with the PrimeScan in different ways.

FINAL DELIVERY
Gravity Jack was able to provide CEREC with a custom augmented reality app that educated booth visitors about the PrimeScan while also providing an experience themselves apart from the rest of the trade show. By encouraging booth visitors to take pictures with the AR content, users were able to take home and share their experience at the CEREC booth.
The Goal
Unable to travel with an actual PrimeeScan machine, CEREC wanted to create an experience that showcased all of the machine’s features at an up and coming dental tradeshow.
Gravity Jack’s Solution
Create a mobile application that can place a digital version of the PrimeScan machine at the tradeshow with augmented reality. Using custom animations users will be able to see first-hand how the machine works while learning about its features.
The Result
CEREC was able to display a true-to-size 3D replica of the PrimeScan machine and engage booth visitors by having them scan three distinct AR markers. Each marker at the booth highlighted one of the many advantages of using the PrimeScan machine.
