New language: Google No Go

Gravity Jack In the Press

OK – so Google announces a new C based programming language: Go, and it is immediately picked up by bloggers – (us included, arrgghh) And as a company that programs in a whole slew of languages we want to know what we can do with it. In reality the answer is “not much yet”
Other than proving that anything Google does make news, I concur with blogger Robert Bravery. Google Go won’t Go anywhere. Ixnay on the object oriented, it isn’t scalable, no plug in architecture, stiff learning curve,  there isn’t a platform that HAS to have Go (like Objective C) and the list goes on and on. Lastly on the list of positives I just didn’t see anything that got me that excited.
Faithful readers – Jack says learn something else for now.
